White Moon Dancers were crowned winners of the Season 2 Alabu Dance Competition which was started last year by singer Isaac Lomeri, commonly known as “MC Lumoex”. The competition saw the winner bagging home 100,000 SSP with the 1st runners up walking away with 50,000 SSP and the 2nd runners-up pocketing 30,000 SSP.

The competition which provides a platform for youth to showcase their dance skills saw 12 dance crews take part in the stiff competition and battle out their dance skills for a chance to clinch the title for the best dance crew. The month-long event saw several dance crews coming out for the auditions with 16 of them being selected and later 4 of them being disqualified. The grand finale was held on Thursday, 16th November at Nyakuron Cultural Centre.

White Moon Dancers walked away with the title while Urban Dancers and Future Dancers took home the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. Speaking at the event, the pioneer of the competition MC Lumoex said that the competition was aimed at empowering the youth through dance. He also promised that in the 3rd season of the competition, the winners would bags home 1 million SSP.

In the 1st season of the competition, SSD Dancers were crowned first, Soul Crew Dancers emerged second and White Moon Dancers came in third with the winner being awarded 20,000 SSP.
This year’s event was majorly sponsored by ADVANCE South Sudan, a non-governmental organization aimed at creating a positive impact across all communities. The organization was behind the prizes awarded to the winners. Other parties which sponsored the event include Multi-Purpose Group (MPG), Eye Radio, 88.4 City FM, Juba Monitor among others.

Next year’s event which will be Season 3 is seen to attract more dance crews from across Juba with all eyes being set on this year’s winners White Crew Dancers to see if they will defend their title. Fans took to social media to congratulate White Crew Dancers for their outstanding dance moves. The event is quickly gaining popularity and all eyes from dance crews across will be set on the much anticipated one million SSP to be won.
