In 2005 immediately after the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) which ended decades-long struggle of the Southern Sudanese people, the then Government of South Sudan (GoSS) reached out to East African countries to help Southern Sudan with skilled workforce to start the reconstruction of the region that was devastated by the decades of civil war between the SPLM/A and successive Khartoum regimes.
Southern Sudan opened its doors and thousands of East Africans rushed in looking for greener pastures. The influx of foreigners into the new country has had its bad effects.
HIJ has learned that the Vice president’s office secretary is a Ugandan who was formerly fired by JICA over fraudulent claims. Animu, as she is known to many, continue to infiltrate the government ranks and now she is working at Vice President’s office as his secretary.
She is Taban Deng’s office secretary and handles all Taban’s paperwork.
A source in the office of the VP alleged that Animu Risasi, a Ugandan who was exposed in 2015 of acquiring South Sudan passport in fraudulent ways has close ties with Riek Machar and Taban Deng since 2013 when the war broke out in the country.
“Animu has been secretly gathering Intel for SPLM-IO while still in Juba and she has been close to Taban for the past few years. That’s why Taban personally made her the office’s secretary,” the source said.
Animu has traveled the world using South Sudan passport, disguised as a South Sudanese and having VIP privileged because of her alleged connections in the govt.
