The USA Government last Friday deported 18 South Sudanese. The reasons for the action were not clear.

However Juba International Airport sources confirmed the arrival of the 18 saying they came on JUBBA flight from Djibouti which landed at around 4.30pm according to news outlets.

When contacted for comment, Police spokesperson Major General Justin Daniel said he did not have knowledge but promised find out. He said he was out of Juba on official engagement and could not confirm the deportation.

“On Friday we went to Rajaf and on Saturday we were in the office but receive no information but maybe on Monday morning i will find out,” Major Daniel said.

Earlier airport sources confirmed that this was not the first time they were receiving deportees from the USA. Sometime back there were others who the USA claimed were engaged in illegal activities that could not be tolerated in the US.

However, the embassy of the USA in Juba could not be reached by press time last evening.
