The South Sudan Basketball Federation (SSBF) General Assembly has denied media reports that it has threatened to impeach its president Luol Deng.
This is after a local media reported that the General Assembly has given its President Luol Deng less than three weeks to appear before it or face a vote of no confidence.

While speaking to Hot in Juba, a senior member at SSBF said that the chairman of the SSBF-General Assembly Stephen Gatuor Thiran was misquoted.

“What happened was that the chairman was misquoted by media in Juba, South Sudan.”

In a letter seen by Hot in Juba, SSBF General Assembly needed SSBF president Luol Deng to brief the members on future plans and development of basketball in South Sudan, since he has not had any discussion with the Assembly since he was elected President.

The Assembly has been conducting meetings calling SSBF to conduct an Annual General Meeting as stipulated in the SSBF constitution.

“On 24th of August 221, The General Assembly, which consist of members delegated from eight states, appointed the first head of General Assembly, Stephen Gatuor Thurain. The Assembly wrote a letter to SSBF General Assembly secretary asking the Secratery to inform the president to call for a meeting to discuss pending activities and issues facing the federation,” SSBF General Assembly letter reads.
