Southampton are the latest Premier League side to make their interest known in highly-rated FC Midtjylland forward Pione Sisto, according to the Mirror.

The Junubi youngster starred in recent Europa League clashes with Manchester United, scoring in both legs against the Red Devils and raising his profile across Europe in the process. He’s valued at around £12m, and Saints – alongside Leicester, West Ham, Everton and a number of clubs across Europe – are set to battle for his signature in the summer.

Both the Premier League leaders and Roberto Martinez’s team have been linked with Sisto in the past, and the report claims that they have been monitoring his progress long before last month’s double header with United. Borussia Dortmund and Valencia are among the other clubs considering a bid for the 21-year-old, but the player himself is reported to prefer a move to England.

Sisto was born in Uganda to Southern Sudanese parents, but moved to Denmark at just two months old and has come through the ranks with the reigning Superliga champions. He won his first cap for Denmark last year and is one of the highest rated players to come out of the country in this generation.
