At least 16 South Sudanese students were among students arrested when police raided a night club in Eldoret, Kenya last week.

Over 500 primary and secondary school students were arrested Sunday night last week while in possession of bhang, miraa and condoms. The owner of the club has been charged with child prostitution and unlawful occupation and use of a basement floor without clearance from the health officers.

Benson Kimatu the club owner was arraigned in court but released on a cash bail of Ksh 100,000 for the first count and Ksh 300,000 for the second charge. The students were also released on bail pending court hearing.

The accused appeared before Chief Magistrate Margret Wambani at the Eldoret Municipal Court where he was charged with child prostitution before appearing at the Eldoret Law Court where he was charged with illegal operation of a basement club.

He, however, denied the charges. The case will be mentioned on October 15th and hearing commence on October 28th, 2015.
