South Sudanese in Kampala are bitter after South Sudan Theatre Academy crowned Catherine Agum Miss STA 2017 Uganda.

The 22-year-old high school student has received criticism from many who attended the show. The fans accused the event organizers of crowning ‘yot-yot’ aka a bleacher and leaving out the girls who have not bleached.

“Since when did we start crowning girls who have bleached?” one fan questions.

Agum and Malual Madut Diing were crowned Ms. and Mr. STA Uganda respectively during a fully packed event held at Freedom City, Uganda.

The beauty pageant was organized by Nairobi-based South Sudanese youth talent organization South Theatre Academy (STA).
