South Sudanese film company, SKP South Sudan was warded last week in the United States of America for a film it produced.

The short film Zawaja Gali, produced and shot by Cont De Monk and Sam Lukudu has won a special recognition award (‘Achievement In Narrative Short’) at the 8th Silicon Valley African Film Festival, in San Jose, California, USA.

Zawaja Gali ( Marriage is expensive) is a short movie produced in Juba, South Sudan starring Sam Lukudu, Joyce Maker among other local talents.

The Silicon Valley African Film Festival (SVAFF) promotes an understanding and appreciation of Africa and Africans through moving images. Aptly themed “Africa through the African lens”, it is the only film festival in California that is exclusively focused on films made by African filmmakers and, crucially, provides audiences with exquisite lenses to the real Africa. The festival recognizes and celebrates the creation and discovery of cinematic art and innovation, and provides the San Francisco Bay Area community access to the richness, diversity and vitality of Africa’s creative expressions through the lenses of Africa’s seasoned and emerging filmmakers.
