The world converged on Friday in Uganda to raise $2 billion to cover the estimated cost of managing a refugee influx from South Sudan.
The Summit which was hosted by Ugandan President, Musevni and United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres got a boost when the EU pledged 85 million euros ($95 million) while Somalia which is branded a “failed state” pledged an amount of $100K. The African Union also pledged the same amount.
Most of the 1.3 million refugees who have poured into Uganda are from South Sudan.
