The Somali Business Community in South Sudan has donated food, mattresses, mosquito nets and blankets to flood victims seeking shelter at across various areas in Jonglei State.
Somali community in South Sudan made the donation over the weekend, pledging thier said committed to assisting and South Sudanese during the good and bad time.
The donation will be distributed to various shelter center across Jonglei in a bid to provide shelter to families that have been displaced by the ongoing flood.
“This calamity has affected many parts of Jonglei and the Somali community has come together to make the donate to the affected families in South Sudan,” a somali community member in Juba told HiJ reporter.
According to the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, some 800,000 people were affected by floods by the end of September, with half of the country flooded.
It stated that approximately 368,000 people were displaced.
Humanitarian agencies say the most affected states include greater Jonglei, Unity Eastern, and Western Equatoria.
