On Monday, November 4, 2024, the Ruweng Administrative Area held a welcoming ceremony for Maj. Gen. Mathew Puljang, Commander of the 4th Infantry Division, at the area’s headquarters in Panrieng. This marked Puljang’s first official visit to Ruweng since his appointment as commander over Unity State and the Ruweng Administrative Area.
During the ceremony, Tiob De Monyluak De Diran expressed his gratitude to Puljang, praising his leadership as a positive force for peace in the region. He noted that since Puljang assumed command, Ruweng has seen improved stability and a marked reduction in cattle raiding incidents.
In his speech, Puljang thanked the people of Ruweng for their warm welcome and highlighted his commitment to ending cattle rustling between Ruweng and Unity State. He emphasized that under his command, the SSPDF will take firm action against cattle raiders to promote lasting peace.
Puljang also pledged to work closely with Unity State’s Governor and Ruweng’s Chief Administrator to ensure the safety and security of civilians in the region.
