Riek Machar’s party has seen another split with Ruai Kuol Jal Thor defecting to form his own rebel group.
Ruai, who hails from Rubkhona was a prominent figure in Riek’s faction having served as a governor of Riek’s Lich State. Before joining Riek he served as the Commissioner of Rubkhona County.
Ruai said he was leaving Riek because the latter was grooming his wife to take over the leadership of the movement. He also decried administration via “remote control”.
Ruai’s newly minted rebel group is called NPA (National People’s Alliance) of SouthSudan and it’s militia wing is called NPAF (National People’s Alliance Forces).
