South Sudan’s armed opposition leader Riek Machar will return to Juba on 18th April to assume his position as First-Vice President.
In a press statement, Machar affirmed his coming to Juba to implement the recently signed peace deal, saying he will come to Juba on date 18 instead of stated date 12 on JMEC document.
“Early morning on 18 April 2016, leader of SPLM-IO Riek Machar will land in Juba.The plane will depart from Gambela, Ethiopia on the same date”, stated a close source to Riek.
The peace deal signed by President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar mandates the creation of a new power-sharing government in South Sudan within 90 days of signing.
