Revealed: Why Aleu Ayieny was sacked as Minister of Interior
Aleu Ayieny Aleu a no-nonsense minister and a staunch supporter of president Salva Kiir Mayardit was in April sacked by the president without an explanation.
Since Kiir has never given explanations to all changes he makes in his cabinet, many people were left wondering to know what really transpired that led to Aleu’s sacking.
Hot in Juba just got an exclusive scoop to why the minister was sacked. According to an insider who spoke to HIJ on condition of anonymity, Aleu was accused of abusing his powers by ordering the release of Tong Tito, the son to former police inspector general Acuil Tito.
Tong was accused of involvement in his brother’s murder and was detained as police investigates the brutal killing of Mustafa Tito which happened in 2014.
Aleu using his powers as country’s minister of interior ordered the release of Tong who is married to his daughter without going through a court process to answer to the murder charges labeled against him.
Acuil Tito the ex-IGP of South Sudan National Police was sacked by Kiir in January, 2013. He is currently a minister of local government in his home state of Warrap.
