Rebel General Yoanis Okiech, a brother to former SPLM secretary general Pagan Amum is killed in Fashoda State just days after another general was killed.

According Riek Machar’s SPLM-IO faction, General Okiech who was a senior general allied to Riek Machar and Agwelek Shilluk militia before declaring allegiance to newly formed rebel group led by Lam Akol was killed with 27 fighters.

Yoanis survived and escaped the attack that killed another rebel general Gabriel Tanginye days ago, but was pursued into his hideouts and killed.

Riek Machar’s deputy spokesperson Nyarji Roman today announced the general’s death on Facebook saying Okiech was killed by forces under command of Johnson Olony.

General Okiech had in the past formed a rebel group called Tiger Faction New Forces but was recently said to have joined Lam Akol’s new rebel group, National Democratic Movement (NDM).
