Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni was awarded the Global Peace Award 2018 for being at the forefront of peace efforts in South Sudan.

Museveni received the award during the 6th Global Peace Leadership Conference that held on Wednesday at Speke Resort in Kampala, Uganda.

The Global Peace Leadership Conference is an annual event that promotes innovative approaches to peace building. It is organised by the Global Peace Foundation, an international non-profit organisation.

This year’s conference will be held under the theme – Moral and Innovative Leadership: New Models for Sustainable Peace and Development.

South Korea will next host the global peace meeting in 2019, with the aim of focusing on the unification of Korea and tackling economic imbalances in the world.
