South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has issued a decree removing Wau state governor Andrea Mayar.
The decree read on Thursday on the national television, the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), did not state the reason for the dismissal of the governor who President Kiir appointed about a year ago.
He is replaced with Angelo Taban as the new governor of Wau state. The new governor had served in different capacities in the defunct Western Bahr el Ghazal state.
Kiir also removed the chairperson of public grievances chamber Deng Biong Mijak and replaced him with Biong Deng Kuol. He also removed the chairperson of Abyei Joint Oversight Committee Deng Mading Mijak and appointed Deng Arop Kuol as the new chairperson.
