South Sudan Broadcasting Cooperation has lost one of its popular news anchors.
Rael Paulino Doki, popularly for anchoring Arabic news at SSBC, died this week after battling cancer for many years, according to colleagues.
According to his co-host, Garang John, Doki was a prominent figure in our newsroom for the last 14 years
“Raiel Doki was a fearless, passionate, kind, extraordinary, committed to real, authentic issues & an amazing ability to tell the stories to a wider audience. She was always lovely & full of joy. Her death is a big loss to SSTV (SSBC) fraternity in particular and journalism in general.
Raiel was a prominent figure in our newsroom for the last 14 years. She was a wonderful and a talented broadcaster who strongly believed in the power and importance of journalism in people’s lives.
Raiel was known for her wit, warmth and kindness. It’s a very personal loss for us at the national broadcaster and the entire nation. It’s a lot to take in. Raiel will be greatly missed by us, she will be missed by our colleagues in the wider industry and she’ll be missed by our viewers.
Our thoughts are with her family. Almighty gives and takes. May her soul rest in eternity.” Garang narrated.
