Pope appoints new catholic bishop for Torit Diocese
Pope Francis has chosen a new bishop for Torit diocese. The Vatican announced on Thursday the appointment of Rev Father Stephen Ameyu as the new bishop of the diocese.
Father Stephene Ameyu, replaces Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek, who died five years ago.
The Apostolic Administrator of Torit Diocese, Monsignor Thomas Oliha, broke the news at a meeting with the Christian community in Torit.
Rev. Stephen Ameyu is a Lecturer and Dean of the St. Paul National Major Seminary in Juba. He was ordained priest on April 21, 1991.
