Police in Kuajok town of Gogrial state recently carried out a crackdown to shave people with dreadlocks who are perceived as “niggas” a term commonly used to refer to criminals in South Sudan.

The state governor Gum Makuach recently issued orders banning number of things in his state including beer or imported alcoholic drinks. He also ordered police to arrest girls found at market places after 6:00pm.

In the police operation boys with saggy trousers and dreadlocks were nabbed in the market and later publicly shaved and their trousers cut into shorts using scissors.

Sources tell HIJ that the move by governor has affected hotel and bar businesses in town since alcohol lovers travel to nearby Wau state for drinking over weekends.
