An oil spill at a pipeline in Budang county of Northern Liech state has sparked concerns among the local population.

The leakage has been going on for the past month and residents have reported traces of crude oil floating on their water sources, and the surrounding environment.

The Greater Pioneer Operating Oil Company – GPOC, the company managing the oil field has been alerted of the leakage. Northern Liech State Information Minister, David Gai Jejor, says the company is expected to send a team today to assess the damage and stop the leakage.

The information minister visited the site of the spill and described the damage as ‘extensive.’
