Activists in Lainya County, Central Equatoria State, have raised alarm of what they consider sexual abuse of women while looking for jobs.

The County Women Association says it has received testimonies from girls who say men always want to sleep with them before giving jobs.

“A girl that has completed senior 4 or 6 is first demanded [to offer] sex by men before granting employment,” Loice Eli, secretary, told Eye Radio.

Ms Eli also appealed to the women in the area to report such cases of abuse to relevant authorities in the county.

“I’m raising this concern to the people of South Sudan that such things are not good. We as women in Lainya don’t want this to happen [again],” she added.

Ms Eli called for protection and equal treatment of women to promote their role in national development.
