This year South Sudan’s music industry is blessed with a number of new faces. Quite a good number of newbies have emerged and are already battling it out for the top spots with the oldies in the radio charts on radio stations in Juba and across the country.
One of these new guys fighting to make a name in the competitive music industry of South Sudan is John Frog. Johnny or Froggy as his close friends call him was born John Aguek. The 22 year old afro-dancehall is a soldier working at the SPLA headquarters in Bilpam.
John who started doing music in 2013 is a member of Emma 47’s Zol Batal Entertainment. He has so far recorded 5 songs and has already featured a number of established artists like Emma 47, Siise, Rover D and Nesty Beibe in his songs.
John Frog’s debut single ‘Binia De’ in which he featured Emma 47 was received well and made it to Eye Radio top ten music charts in 2014. Some other songs of John Frogs include “Take Away”, “Ladies Night” featuring Siise and Nesty Beibe and “Party Gal” featuring Rover D.
His latest song “Maria” released in the month of March has so far received positive reviews online and massive airplay on Eye Radio. Frog is currently working on a number of tracks due for release before the end of the year. He is also working on music video for the “Party Gal”.
