Man charged for murder of South Sudanese teen in Australia
A man has been charged over the death of a teenager following a party riot in Girrawheen.
Kuol Akut, 17, was found unconsious on a footpath just before midnight on Friday last week as guests from a nearby party began fighting in the street.
He remained in a coma and died at Royal Perth Hospital on Thursday.
Kuol, who was one of six children, was seen riding a white BMX bike as revellers gathered on the street around the time of the initial incident.
His friends told police that a short time later Kuol was uneasy on his feet before he collapsed to the ground.
They moved him off the road and police attended to him when they arrived a short time later.
Police said there were no visible injuries to Kuol’s head that indicated he had sustained the injury caused by an implement.
Major crime squad detectives yesterday charged an 18-year-old Balga man with murder.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.
