Former SPLA Chief of Staff, General Paul Malong has assured the people of Southern Sudan that they need to be calm and to stop spreading rumours, especially on social media.

While playing cards with his bodyguards at his residence in Juba, he also assured his family and friends that he is in good health and is getting good care while under house arrest in Juba.

There has been tension in the past few days in Juba after the president issued the directive to the army chief of staff to disarm and reduce Malong’s bodyguards. The order didn’t go well with Malong bodyguards. they resisted the disarmament order and it caused a standoff.

The community elders of Aweil and church leaders met yesterday with  Paul Malong in an attempt to defuse tension.
