Rapper Madit Acamrap is back in Juba after representing South Sudan in the inaugural Nyege Nyege International Music Festival that held at the source of the Nile in Jinja, Uganda.
The festival was showcasing the diversity of music that is boiling through various underground music scenes across Africa including regional premiers from Fokn Bois from Ghana, Madit Acamrap from South Sudan and Art Melody from Burkina Faso.
Nyege Nyege festival brought together over 40 critically acclaimed instrumentalists, producers, bands, emcees, and deejays from across the continent for three days of non-stop music celebration over nine acres of forest at the source of the Nile.
The line-up will be complemented by international acts including leading UK reggae sound system Mungo’s Hifi, DJ Zhao, Kuduro star DJ Marfox and Riddlore from Project Blowed.
Representatives of pioneering labels at the forefront of Underground African music including Akwaaba Sound System and Discrepant Records and Principe Records will also be present.
Aside from three days of non-stop performances by cutting edge regional performers and international acts, the festival will feature a wide range of local visual artists and performers, culinary experiences highlighting East Africa’s diverse food heritage, film screenings and workshops.
Cult Ugandan film producers Wakaliwood shot a vampire epic featuring the Nyege Nyege festival-goers as well.
