Luol Deng was honored MVP during the first NBA africa exhibition games held on Saturday in Johnesberg, South Africa.

The games between Team Africa vs. Team World and Team Africa was led by team captain Luol who scored 20 points for Team Africa in a highly entertaining match both on and off the court.

“I am extremely proud to be a part of the NBA’s first game in Africa,” said Luol. “Coming from South Sudan and having participated in the Basketball without Borders Africa camps in Johannesburg previously, I am truly honored to be part of this historic event.”

Luol shared MVP honors with Team World captain Chris Paul of Los Angeles Clippers

The game will benefit charities such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Africa, SOS Children’s Villages Association of South Sudan and the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
