President Salva Kiir has appointed Ambassador Baak Valentino Wol as the new undersecretary in the ministry of foreign affairs.

In a decree read on state-run SSBC TV on Friday evening, Kiir appointed Baak to replace Reverend Joseph Ayok Anei who was suspended by Foreign Affairs Minister Deng Alor in December last year. Ayok was accused by the minister of being “disrespectful to him and his office”.

Until his appointment, Baak served as South Sudan’s deputy ambassador in United States.
