Emmanuel Kembe recently returned to Juba from Germany where he participated at a Culture and Arts Festival held on 28th of August in Berlin, Germany. After receiving an invitation from the South Sudan Ambassador in Germany to take part in the event. The festival was organized by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in Germany. BMZ works with various organizations and governments to support the development, growth and sustainability of their various cultural entities.
According to Kembe, “The Ambassador of South Sudan to Germany invited me to participate in the festival and l had the honor to be part of the big day. I performed several songs which included “Torab Junub,” “Junubia,” and “Okanga” which the people in attendance enjoyed greatly. “
Kembe further stated, “While in Germany, l met performers from Mexico, Tunisia, Mauritania and Ghana just to name a few. It was an important opportunity to showcase our culture in a different part of the world. We have a rich culture and people need to see it. This was also a good opportunity for the musicians and other artists establish a framework of cultural exchange.”
