The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in May 2018 proposed to South Sudan’s parties to nominate a woman as Vice-President and according to our source who was at the peace signing ceremony held in Khartoum, the late John Garang’s wife will become a vice-president.

The agreement signed yesterday states that that the female vice president will be nominated by Former Detainees(SPLM-FDs) and Nyandeng Garang is the likely candidate.

South Sudan will have four vice president as follows:

a] Vice President to be nominated by SPLM-IO
b] Vice President to be nominated by SSOA
c] Vice President to be nominated by Incumbent TGoNU
d] Vice President to be nominated by FDs, who should be a woman
