The government today suspended Vivacell, a telecommunication firm in the country.

In a letter seen by HIJ, South Sudan’s national communication authority suspended Vivacell after Makuei Lueth directed the communication authority to inform the public about suspension.

The govt gave Vivacell a week to stop operating in the country.

Vivacell was launched in 2009 after Lebanon’s Fattouch Investment Group purchased south Sudanese company NOW (Network of the World) in 2007.

The firm is now jointly owned by south Sudanese and other backers.
