President Salva Kiir has announced that plans are underway to establish an institute of Petroleum Technology and Applied Sciences at the University of Juba.
President Kiir made the remark during the graduation ceremony of more than 1000 under graduate and post graduate students of the University of Juba over the weekend.
He said the establishment of the new institute is a partnership between the University of Juba, the Ministry of Petroleum, Nile Petroleum Corporation and oil companies.
“I trust that this ambitious project is going to be the first of its kind in the region and will be a great investment in our human capital,” said President Kiir.
He added that the institute shall enhance technical and managerial capacity for exploitation of the country’s natural resources.
Kiir described it as a great investment.
