The government has formed a 14-member ministerial committee to monitor food prices in the market, says Minister of information.
Michael Makuei Lueth says the committee headed by the First Vice President Taban Den Gai will take the responsibility of managing food items imported from the neighbouring countries.
The government has bought food worth one million UD Dollars and will be transported to the country in two days’ time, he reveals.
He addressed reporters during the weekly cabinet sitting in Juba.
Minister Makuei cautions traders against playing with prices of commodities in the market to stop or will face punishments.
Trading Economics reports that cost of food in South Sudan has increased five times higher in February of 2017 over the same month in the previous year.
