All social gatherings have been banned in the country starting tomorrow under new restrictions. The National Taskforce on COVID-19 on Friday said, citing a continued surge in COVID-19 infections, four days before the planned demonstration by the People’s Coalition for Civil Action (PCCA) scheduled for 30th August, 2021.
The measures include a curfew from 10 PM and a ban on social gatherings this evening.
In a statement on State-run SSBC, the Chairman of the National Taskforce on COVID-19, Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, said the development is due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in recent weeks.
He calls on citizens to adhere to the new measures to avoid being victims of circumstances. According to covid statistics, 120 cases across the country were confirmed on Tuesday this week.
The Ministry of Health has persistently advised the public to adhere to the Covid-19 preventive and control guidelines to minimize the widespread of the virus.
These include wearing face masks in public places, social distancing and regular handwashing with water and soap or sanitizing.
