Admissions into public universities open next week, after two years of non-admissions. The Minister for Higher Education, Yen Oral Lam Tut says the public institutions have not been able to enroll new students since 2015 due to funding shortfalls.

Lam Tut told Parliament that the ministry of finance, through the approval of cabinet, has availed money to admit some students.

The Acting Director of General Admission, Evaluation and Accreditation in the Ministry of Education, Deng Daniel Awan Ariik is quoted in the media as saying admissions will start on Monday, for 7,500 places across all five public universities.
