Four South Sudanese arrested for assault in Kla
Four South Sudanese nationals have been arrested and detained at Katwe police station for assaulting their two sisters in Kampala,Uganda.
The four who include Jacob Akec, Bol Jok, Adol Chuot and Maryal Makyc are residents of Nsambya, a Kampala suburb and students at Kampala International University (KIU) Kansanga. The victims include Acyte Panyang and Adyt Marima who are also students of KIU and residents of Nsambya.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, the suspects share a house with their three sisters, including the two victims. Onyango narrated that, Sunday night the suspects woke up and found out that one of their sisters, Achol Maryal, was not in the house.
“They tied up the victims with ropes and started beating and accusing them of knowing their sister’s whereabouts,” he said. He added that a neighbour who notified the Police which ran to their rescue. According to police investigations, Achol is suspected to have to have flown back to South Sudan with her boyfriend. The four have been charged of assault and will be taken to courts of law, according to Onyango.
