Akuany Ayuen, the 2013 Miss South Sudan-Kenya has been crowned this evening as the new Miss World South Sudan. The Kenyan based model will now represent South Sudan at the 2016 Miss World Beauty Pageant in December.

Akuany was chosen by judges as the favourite among several other contestants at the event held at New Sudan Palace hotel along Airport Drive this evening.

Miss World South Sudan is most the prestigious and the only surviving beauty pageant in the country after all the other pageants like Miss Malaika discontinued for unknown reasons.

The 66^th edition of Miss World pageant will be held on 18 December 2016 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, National Harbor in Maryland, United States.

The reigning queen, Mireia Lalaguna of Spain will crown her successor at the end of the event. This will be the second time that the United States will host the pageant.
