Congolese lingala music legend Kanda Bongoman has declared his support for the rebellion in the country and its leader Riek Machar.

Photos obtained by Hot in Juba allegedly shared on social media by rebel officials show the legendary musician together with Riek Machar and Alfred Lado carrying placards with writings “No More Dictatorship”, apparently referring to president Salva Kiir as dictator as commonly said by rebel supporters.

Our sources said the musician jetted to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where most rebel officials stay last week to attend a conference organised by the rebel supporters.

Kanda Bongo Man is popular in South Sudan for his 90s lingala songs. He has had several concerts in Juba after the signing of comprehensive peace agreement in 2004.

He was once stranded and had to stay in Juba for months to raise money for his flight ticket back to DRC after a promoter who brought him disappeared with his concert’s money.
