South Sudan’s star defender Athir Thomas has been announced as the latest signing at Saudi First Division team Al-Nahdha Club. Athir who recently joined Al-Oroban club of Kuwait from the Sudanese Premier League club AL-Hilal has been a regular performer and have the ability to prove himself especially on the pitch that made him to be part of the winning team for the Sudanese Premier League title with at Al-Hilal for two occasions.

Ahir Thomas played for Al-Mourada SC in Khartoum from 2008-2010, and joined Al Hilal Club (Omdurman) from 2011-2012 and appeared from 23 times scoring 3 goals for the club before joining Al Hilal Khartoum from 2012-2017 where he spent 5 years of his career and afterwards moved to middle east in 2017 for Al Fahaheel making 4 appearances for the club, because if his hard work and ability to deliver Al-Nahdha of Saudi Arabia came for his services.

The 30-year-old central defender will be looking forward to helping his new club earn promotion to the Saudi Professional League and follow on from his strong form at his previous club Al Oroban FC. His first game will be against will be away to AL Watani on Tuesday 19th September 2017 at 4:15pm. He will be partnering Abbas Adam, Majed Al Amri, Abbas AL Shanqiti, Yasser Dhamri, and Hussain Fallath in the heart of the defense

He has played for the South Sudan national team (Bright Stars) for 17 times and may be part and partial of the national team in next year’s AFCON campaign against Mali in March 2018. They may make a perfect partnership with Deng Magek, Agele Bernard who plays in the Azam Uganda Premier League club Express FC. Ramathan Yakubu of AFC Leopards, David Dada who is currently having trials in South Korea, However Sports24 has not yet seen the length of his contract in his new club Al Nahda of Saudi Arabia.
