South Sudan’s Ater Thomas has officially been unveiled as the latest signing by Saudi First Division club Al-Orobah F.C, who are competing in the second tier of football in Saudi Arabia.
The 30-year-old central defender makes the move from Kuwaiti club Al-Fahaheel FC, where he impressed in his 7 months at the club. The move marks the first time that a South Sudanese player has played at a professional level in Saudi Arabia. Ater is now arguably one of South Sudan’s highest profile foreign-based players and hopes are high that he will continue to progress at his new club.
Ater has made 17 appearances for South Sudan and is one of the most-capped players for the national team.
