Last night saw the crowning of new Miss South Sudan at Freedom Hall. Ajaa Kiir defeated 12 other girls who were participating in the beauty contest. Her runners up were Angelina Santino and Apio Josephine.

Ajaa is a student at Kenya Methodist University in Kenya according to her FB page.

Ajaa takes over from Awien Kuanyin who won Miss World South Sudan in 2014 and represented the country in Miss World 2014 held in London. As a tradition, the out-going miss world would crown her successor but Miss Awien who lives USA was absent at the event Saturday night.

Miss World 2015, will be the 65th edition of the Miss World pageant to be held on 19 December 2015 at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China PR. Rolene Strauss of South Africa will crown her successor at the end of the event. 130 contestants will compete for the crown.
