Kenyan Police arrested eight South Sudanese at Kasarani estate in Nairobi, Kenya this week while playing chess and cards. The police charged them with gambling. Sources say those arrested were asked to pay 20,000Ksh an equivalent of 4,000ssp to be freed. The arrested South Sudanese mostly students denied the charges of gambling labeled against them by the police.
”If we were gambling then how come they didn’t find the money, we always play chess and cards to past time,” said one victim.
Junubin have a culture of gathering to play cards and chess and dominoes for leisure.
