The government or South Sudan will impose high tax on skin bleaching products getting into the South Sudan, a goverment official who prefered anonymity told HIJ.

The senior government official reports that the tax is meant to reduce the skin bleaching that is rampant all over the country.

“The government is planning to tax more bleaching creams getting into the country as a way to reduce the number of women who are bleaching ,” the senior government official told the HIJ

South Sudan is one of the countries where bleaching is rampant after India and Nigeria according to a report established in 2017.
