Trump administration abolishes post for Sudan and South Sudan Special Envoy

Donald Booth

Trump’s administration has scrapped the post of Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan.

CNN reported that the move is aimed at trimming and streamlining the diplomatic service.

CNN reported that bureaus are to be created and the special envoys for the Great Lakes Region of Africa, and for Sudan and South Sudan will be subsumed under the Bureau of African Affairs.

Ambassador Donald Booth was the last US Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan under Obama’s administration.
