President Kiir awards Wani Igga, others medals for heroic role in S.Sudan struggle

Vice President, James Wani on Thursday 24th January 2019 received an honorary medal for his role and sacrifice during the struggle for South Sudan independence.

Among those who received medals and ribbon were Presidential advisor for Military affairs Gen. Daniel Awet Akot, the Minister of Defense, Engineer Kuol Manyang Juuk, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nhial Deng Nhial, the governor of Fangak state Gen. John Kong Nyuon and the Chief of Defense Forces, Gen. Gabriel Jok Riak.

The event was witnessed by the Vice Chief of the Defence Forces Lieutenant General Joseph Kasaon, Assistant Chief of Defence Forces (Personnel and Logistics) Major General Samuel Nandwa and CISM executive members. The awarding of the medal was a culmination of CISM Board of Directors’ meeting.

Addressing the event at SSPDF general headquarters in Juba on Thursday, President Kiir urged the army to be vigilant and stick to their constitutional mandate of protecting the national integrity and work for the development of the nation.
