After accompanying Akan William to just concluded Miss Grand International in Thailand, former miss World South Sudan Atong Demach travelled to Japan in her capacity as JICA’s public relations advisor. In Tokyo Atong met Japanese vice president Mr. Hiroshi Kato and other Japenese government’s officials. She also had TV and newspaper interviews.

Atong shared her image with with Japanese VP on social media with the caption:

“What an honor to have lunch with Vice President Mr. Hiroshi Kato today. He is a very humble person and a great leader to meet with. We talked about South Sudan and JICA South Sudan work in the country. Thank you sir was a great honor indeed to meet you.”

Atong in March this year landed a job opportunity with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) – South Sudan’s as public relations advisor.

Atong became the first representative of the Republic of South Sudan to the Miss World competition in 2012. She placed fourth out of one hundred and sixteen young women representing the same number of countries and won Miss World top model award, Miss World Best in Interview and the coveted title of Miss World Africa, also known as Africa Continental Queen of Beauty. This made her a celebrity with a national and international fan base.

On the same year Miss. Atong was appointed by the Council of Ministers of the government as South Sudan Ambassador for Culture, making her one of the respected and most recognized faces in South Sudan with strong public relations within government, private sector, international organizations and many more. She also served as a brand ambassador for top companies in the world.

Atong is also the director of Beauties of South Sudan which holds beauty pageants.
